Gastonia NC Police Department

This facility is located in downtown Gastonia and functions as the City’s central law enforcement headquarters. While the facility is not County affiliated, it was included in the County’s Space Needs Assessment and Master Plan.

Designed with security in mind, the windows are above-head height and have level 3 ballistic protection. The entry of the facility, including a series of steps and columns, was designed to block frontal vehicular assaults. In order to grant convenient access for civilians, public parking is located in front of the facility, while a secure staff parking area is located at the facility’s rear.

The facility’s interior includes an open floor plan that can be easily reconfigured; this is crucial to most Departments as new trends in law enforcement can sometimes alter the Department’s service structure. A second, smaller facility houses large evidence storage, a vehicle search area, a vehicle fueling station and a vehicle impound area.
