Property Description
Stewart-Cooper-Newell was selected to assist the Hemby Bridge Fire Department’s leadership to design a new facility. Our services included site and building layouts during the programming phase of this project to find the option that would best fit the needs and budget of the department through final construction.
The station includes two-drive-through bays, decontamination spaces, exercise and fire rescue training spaces, showers, and individual bedrooms to accommodate up to twelve firefighters. A large dayroom, kitchen and adjacent outdoor patio space provide spaces for the volunteers to gather, share meals and grill during warm weather.
The facility’s design also includes office space for station officers, a tool and equipment room, space to maintain their rescue equipment, and a storage mezzanine.
The building’s aesthetic design incorporates some elements from other landmarks in the community, while maintaining a profile to help blend with the surrounding neighbors. A 30-foot-tall watch tower is a main focal point of the new building and the exterior was designed low maintenance architectural materials like brick, cast stones, and metal roof to help preserve the buildings longevity.
